Posted by T ZAMAN in , ,

There are many products in the market like the legendary Partition Magic - but although it claims to work with Windows Vista, but the fact is that it doesn't does the job that well. So you may be wondering how to resize your existing partitions like c: , d: drives without losing any data. I'll help you out today to do just that and also without the need for any costly programs. I'll explain to you how Windows Vista can be used to manage your partition resizing with it's inbuilt tools.

Here are the easy steps to follow:
  • Hit the Vista Start Button.
  • Right click on Computer and select Manage.
  • If you happen to get an User Account Control[UAC] dialog now - just click Continue(Vista's Inbuilt protection has kicked in).
  • On the left pane, expand the Storage category and click on Disk Management.
  • Now, you'll find all the partitions of your computer listed out. Right click on the partition you'd like to modify(Lets say d:).
  • Select the option Extend Volume or Shrink Volume(Extend - to increase the size or Shrink to reduce the size) of the selected partition.

That's it - you're done. You have now successfully resized your existing Windows Vista Partition.

How to easily Speed Up your Firefox in 4 Simple Steps

Posted by T ZAMAN in , ,

Many of you have been asking me how to increase their browsing speeds with BSNL , MTNL, Airtel, Tata Indicom, Reliance , Sify , etc Broadband connections. As usual I have a trick up my sleeves to increase the speed your Firefox performance.

The below steps will hold good only if you have a Broadband connection - else it will make your browsing much slower. Let's now have a look at the simple 4 steps.

First of all Type “about:config” into the address bar in Firefox and hit return. Scroll down and look for the following entries and make the necessary changes.

You will need to enable Pipelining in Firefox. Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several request at once, which will substantially speed up your page loading times.

Alter the entries as follows:
1. Change “network.http.pipelining” to “true
2. Change “network.http.proxy.pipelining” to “true
3. Also, change “network.http.pipelining.maxrequests” to a number like 40. This in turn means that Firefox will make 40 requests at once.
4. Finally right-click anywhere in Firefox and select New-> Integer. Name it “nglayout.initialpaint.delay” and set its value to “0″. This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it receives - so we ask it not to wait even a second!!

How to configure "Open All in Tabs" in Firefox without closing existing tabs?

Posted by T ZAMAN in , , ,

From the past few months I have been using Firefox and have completely removed Flock for my general browsing. But I was facing one big problem with Firefox - When I used to click on "Open All in Tabs" in a bookmark folder, it closes all the existing tabs.

I was wondering to find a fix for this and today I found it.

Here's how you can disable it.

  1. Open a blank tab, and type about:config in the address bar.
  2. Find the browser.tabs.LoadFolderAndReplace setting, and double click it to change it to false.

This will keep it from killing all the tabs you already have open. You will have to restart firefox to get it to take effect.

How to convert your Windows XP Home Edition Into Windows XP Professional

Posted by T ZAMAN in , , , ,

I have come across a hacking technique that promises no less than to transform Windows XP Home Edition into Windows XP Professional. Applying the hack will enable all the features specific on Windows XP Professional on a Windows XP Home Edition. The hacking technique works with a copy of Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2.

The following hack has been altered via segments of “xxx” used to conceal the actual information. In its present state, the fragment presented below is no longer a valid hack for transforming Windows XP Home Edition into Windows XP Professional. It is presented here only for informative purposes, as Jason S does not support piracy of any manner.

1. Copy the xxxxx and the xxxxx of the WindowsXP CD to your hard drive.
2. Extract the xxxxxx of your Windows XP CD. You can use xxxxx to do this.
3. Click START-->RUN-->REGEDIT
4. Highlight xxx
5. Click FILE-->xx xx and select the xxx file
This file is located in the xxx folder. Use the one you extracted to your hard drive from your Windows XP CD.
6. Locate the following registry key:
xxx
7. Edit the DEFAULT key and change the following values:
01 to xxx
02 to xxx
8. Change the name to the value xxx to anything.
9. Locate the following registry key:
xxx
Edit the DEFAULT key and change the following values:
01 to xxx
02 to xxx
10. Highlight xxx and select FILE-->xxx

Following the successful accomplishment of the instructions presented above, users have to make a bootable Windows XP CD with the hacked version of the operating system. Although now the copy of Windows XP Home Basic will have all the features of Windows XP Professional, the XP Home serial key will still be valid.
